Weather: Summer begins today – Temperatures on the Rise

The weather in the coming days will feel like summer, following the autumn-like conditions of recent days. The forecast comes from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS).

The recent winter-like weather conditions are receding, and temperatures are now set to return to levels typical for the season.
In the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades, Crete, the islands of the eastern Aegean, and the Dodecanese, there will be periods of increased cloud cover with local showers, gradually improving. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the early morning hours in the southernmost islands of the Dodecanese and in Crete.
In the rest of the country, the weather will generally be clear, with temporary cloud formations during midday and the afternoon over mainland areas, where local showers or rain are possible in mountainous regions, mainly in the Peloponnese.
Winds in the west will blow from westerly directions at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the east, they will come from northerly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching 6 to 7 in the Aegean and locally up to 8 Beaufort in eastern parts, gradually weakening.
Temperatures will rise, reaching 20 to 21°C in the Ionian Sea and mainland areas, locally up to 22°C in the west, and 18 to 19°C in the Aegean.

MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: In Macedonia, generally clear with temporary cloud cover in mountainous areas during midday and afternoon.
In Thrace, initially clear, but clouds will develop from midday.
Winds: Northerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, temporarily shifting to westerly up to 5 Beaufort during midday and afternoon.
Temperature: From 7 to 21°C. In western Macedonia, 3 to 4 degrees lower.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Generally clear with some local cloud cover that will temporarily increase during midday and afternoon. In mainland mountainous areas, mainly in the Peloponnese, local showers or rain are possible.
Winds: Initially variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, turning west-northwesterly with the same intensity from midday.
Temperature: From 7 to 22°C. In inland Epirus, 3 to 4 degrees lower.
THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: In the Sporades and Evia, periods of increased cloud cover with local showers, clearing from the afternoon.
In other areas, generally clear with temporary clouds during midday and afternoon, when local showers may occur in mountainous areas, mainly in the Peloponnese.
Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 in coastal areas, weakening quickly and turning westerly up to 5 Beaufort in the south from midday.
Temperature: From 8 to 21°C.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Periods of increased cloud cover with local showers and isolated thunderstorms early in the morning in Crete. Conditions will improve from midday in the Cyclades and by afternoon in Crete.
Winds: North-northwesterly at 7 to 8 Beaufort, gradually weakening.
Temperature: From 11 to 18°C, reaching up to 20°C in southern Crete.
EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE
Weather: Periods of increased cloud cover with local showers, mainly in the Dodecanese, where isolated thunderstorms are expected early in the morning in the southern parts. Improvement is expected from midday.
Winds: Northerly at 6 to 7 Beaufort, and 7 to 8 Beaufort in the Dodecanese, gradually weakening.
Temperature: From 13 to 19°C, 2 to 3 degrees lower in the north.
ATTICA
Weather: Generally clear with temporary cloud cover during midday and afternoon.
Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, becoming light and variable from the afternoon.
Temperature: From 9 to 20°C.
THESSALONIKI
Weather: Generally clear.
Winds: Northerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, becoming light and variable from the afternoon.
Temperature: From 8 to 20°C.
Weather on Tuesday (05/05)
Generally clear weather, with temporary cloud cover in the southeastern regions in the morning. During midday and afternoon, temporary clouds will develop over mainland areas, where local showers are possible, mainly in the mountainous regions of the northeast, as well as in the mountains of the Peloponnese and western Central Greece.
Visibility in western mainland areas will be locally limited in the early morning, and fog may form. Winds in the Ionian and mainland areas will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in the Aegean they will be north-northwesterly at 4 to 5 Beaufort and 6 to 7 in the southeast, gradually weakening.
Temperatures will rise further, reaching 21 to 23°C in most areas and locally 24 to 25°C in mainland regions.
Weather on Wednesday (06/05)
Generally clear weather, with thin clouds that will be locally denser at times over mainland areas. Visibility will be locally limited in the early morning.
Winds will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort in the west, while in the east they will blow from the south at 3 to 5 Beaufort, and in the southeastern Aegean from the west with the same intensity. Temperatures will rise slightly further.
Weather on Thursday (07/05)
Thin clouds, occasionally denser in the west, central, and northern parts, with a chance of light rain until midday.
Winds in mainland areas will be light and variable, while at sea they will blow from the south at 4 and locally 5 Beaufort. Temperatures will not change significantly.
Weather on Friday (08/05)
Thin clouds, occasionally denser at times. There is a chance of local showers during midday and afternoon in northern mountainous areas.
Winds will blow from southern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, and locally up to 6 Beaufort in the Ionian. Temperatures will rise slightly, mainly in the south, remaining above normal levels for the season.
