International design consultancy to turn vision of sculpture in the sky into reality

West Bengal developer Forum Projects has recruited the worlds leading earthquake engineering specialists to help create its dramatic cloud structure above the Kolkata skyline. Sitting 500ft in the air, Deya (which means cloud) will connect the two towers that will make up Atmosphere - a luxury £74.8m high-rise apartment project that will be the highest in Kolkata.

Award-winning Singapore-based architect Arc Studio has designed the dramatic development, including Deya, seen as a first for India and described as a sculpture in the sky. Suspended in the air like a cloud, Deya will span 60m and its four levels will house swimming pools, a gym, spa, squash and badminton courts, a jogging track and mini theatre. A golf driving range is also planned.

The exclusive sky-bridge will also have an open-air party deck and ampitheatre, along with multiple lounges and spaces for small gatherings. The luxury towers will have a 400,000 sq ft area with stylish villas in the sky. Work on the development, on a site off the Eastern Metropolitan bypass, is set to start soon.

Web Structures will bring its expertise working on tall buildings around the globe to the plans for the 39-storey towers and the floating cloud sculpture, which will be lit up by LED lamps at night and will have a silver lining with 15,000 kinetic discs shimmering on its surface.

The firm, which has offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London and Shanghai, is also working in India to create the tallest skyscrapers in Pune and in Victory Valley in Gurgaon.

Dr Hossein Rezai-Jorabi, Web Structures group director, said: Forum Projects and Arc Studio have come together to create the vision for a really outstanding project. Deya is a fantastic concept. It is our task to make their vision a reality using the skills and expertise we have gained on high-rise building projects globally.
