Constantly by her side were her husband, Traianos Dellas, their 18-year-old daughter Viktoria, and close family members.

Gogo Mastrokosta first entered television studios and Greek households as a TV fitness instructor during the 1990s. This was followed by numerous photo shoots, appearances in television series, and even a brief venture into singing. She became the ultimate sex symbol of that decade, while in recent years she had also launched her own clothing collection.

Who was Gogo Mastrokosta

Gogo Mastrokosta was born on September 3, 1970, in Evinochori, Aetolia-Acarnania. Her original goal was to study Medicine, but she ultimately enrolled in the Physical Education Academy.

In 1995, she began her television career as a fitness instructor on MEGA channel’s morning show “Metaxy Mas”.

In 2007, she decided to pursue singing and released her own album titled “Amartia”.

In 2018, she also participated in ANT1’s “Dancing with the Stars”.

On May 28, 2010, she married former international footballer Traianos Dellas, and on the same day they baptized their daughter away from the public spotlight.

The couple had shared more than 20 years together and had one daughter, Viktoria.

Gogo Mastrokosta’s Marriage to Traianos Dellas

In one of her interviews, Gogo Mastrokosta had spoken about her relationship with Traianos Dellas and their marriage.

“I didn’t fall in love with him immediately. He was intimidating when I first saw him. He was very masculine. I saw a two-meter-tall man and it seemed a bit excessive for me. I met him ten months after he got divorced. Let’s make that clear because I’ve heard people say I was the reason for his divorce! The story of this relationship, which was not ideal at first, and the way it ended up makes you think it was fate,” she had said.

“The marriage proposal took a long time. I got pregnant — I had also lost a baby during a previous pregnancy — and I was already four or five months pregnant without a proposal. So, in the sixth month, I told Traianos, ‘We’re going to baptize our daughter Viktoria Mastrokosta.’ Viktoria is his mother’s name, and Mastrokosta because if you’re not married, the child takes the mother’s surname until the father legally recognizes it. A few days later, we were at a hotel and he presented me with a ring, just like that,” she had said about their marriage.

The Cancer Diagnosis Shortly After Giving Birth to Her Daughter

In a rare interview on the show “Meta ta Mesanychta” in 2019, Gogo Mastrokosta spoke about her battle with cancer, with which she was diagnosed just three days after giving birth to her daughter, and how she handled the serious health issue she faced.

“Three days after I gave birth (to our daughter Viktoria), my doctor told me I had breast cancer. Before my first pregnancy, I had felt something suspicious. You should never rely on just one diagnosis or one doctor. I went to a doctor and he didn’t even order a mammogram. I had tests done and he told me everything was fine. Then that moment came and he told me. Before anything else happened, I realized what was going on,” she confessed. She added:

“They took me straight into surgery and when I woke up, the first thing I heard was, ‘Unfortunately, things are not good.’ I had to stay isolated while looking at my baby. The fact that I didn’t lose my mind means I was very lucky. What I couldn’t comprehend was the timing. I was trying to find balance. I didn’t get to experience my child as a baby. I was obsessed with having another child. I would hold my baby in my arms, cry, and wonder whether I would live to see her grow up,” the former fitness instructor had said.

“You don’t have a choice. I wasn’t crying for myself. I was mostly crying because of what I had done to this man — why did I have to do this to my husband and my family?” she had added.

Gogo also spoke about the first time she publicly announced that she had breast cancer during an event honoring women of the year:

“Throughout my health ordeal, Traianos stood by me like a rock. Traianos told me to go out and speak publicly about breast cancer in order to help other women. During the first month, I couldn’t cope with my illness. Cancer made me lose my carefree spirit forever.”

In another interview she gave in 2021, referring to the President of KINAL, who had passed away after a difficult battle with cancer, Gogo Mastrokosta spoke about her with great tenderness, saying:

“She was an exceptional person on every level. But for me, above all, she was a mother leaving behind three children. That is what matters to me and what is most important. I believe every mother and every woman going through something like this thinks first about that: ‘My children.’ I’m saying this now and I get goosebumps because I was truly shocked and deeply saddened. She was a woman who had really fought. Sometimes we use the word ‘fight,’ but in the end, it’s also a matter of luck. For example, people often told me, ‘You’re a fighter, you’re a winner,’ and I would tell them, ‘No, I was lucky. Unfortunately.’”

She later admitted that there were moments when she lost courage during her health struggle, but the support she received from those around her helped her see the situation differently.

“Everyone experiences this completely differently. But what I want to say — because I was truly saddened and shocked at that moment — and of course those of us who have gone through these situations experience an even greater shock, because you realize it’s never truly over. Certainly, hers was one of the very rare cases, but since many women are listening to us, there are also other cases, the more ‘favorable’ ones. We should stop being terrified every time we hear about such a problem,” she had said in 2021.
