Nafplio: Missing 59-year-old found dead – Two arrests for murder

The murder case was solved following coordinated action by officers from the Nafplio Crime Prevention and Investigation Department, in cooperation with officers from the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The 59-year-old Greek national had initially been reported missing and was later found dead in a rural area within a local community of the Municipality of Nafplio.

In connection with the case, two foreign nationals, aged 20 and 24, were arrested yesterday, August 2, 2026, in areas of Attica following an organised police operation. A case file was opened against them for murder, robbery and violations of weapons legislation.

According to the case history, a relative reported the 59-year-old missing to the Nafplio Crime Prevention and Investigation Department on the evening of July 25, 2026.

A thorough police investigation, involving the detailed and combined analysis of data and evidence, established that on the evening of July 24, 2026, the two suspects entered the 59-year-old’s vehicle and travelled with him to a local community in the Municipality of Nafplio.

There, they restrained him and struck him with a sharp object, fatally injuring him.

They then stole an amount of money, his mobile phone and his vehicle, which they later abandoned on a hill near the area where they lived.

During the subsequent police investigation, the body of the 59-year-old was found yesterday, August 2, 2026, in a rural area within a local community of the Municipality of Nafplio.

A forensic pathologist and a team from the Criminal Investigations Office attended the scene.

The two suspects, who confessed to the crime, will be brought before the competent authorities. The Nafplio Crime Prevention and Investigation Department is conducting the preliminary investigation.
