Aristotelis Chantzis was transferred to the Pulmonology Department of Evangelismos Hospital after spending 58 days in the Intensive Care Unit.

The Community of the Occupied Prosfygika provided an update earlier today, Friday (21/08), on the health of Aristotelis Chantzis.

More specifically, it said that “after 58 days of hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit, Aristotelis Chantzis was transferred to the Pulmonology Department of Evangelismos Hospital.”

The full statement on Aristotelis Chantzis’ health reads:

“After 58 days of hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit, Aristotelis Chantzis was transferred today to the Pulmonology Department of Evangelismos Hospital, where he will continue to receive treatment and care for complications caused by refeeding syndrome, prolonged starvation and his lengthy hospitalization.

He continues to require increased levels of medical support and hospital care.”

It is recalled that Aristotelis Chantzis went on hunger strike for 140 days, demanding the preservation of the Community of the Occupied Prosfygika, the cancellation of the contract by the Region of Attica and the right of all Prosfygika residents to remain in their homes.

Suzon Doppagne, also a member of the Prosfygika Community, went on hunger strike for 55 days over the same demands.

Both hunger strikes ended on 24 June 2026.
