Kos: 35-year-old woman arrested over serious injury of her 3-year-old child in parked car

A 3-year-old child was seriously injured on the island of Kos after becoming trapped in the window of a parked car, with authorities arresting the child’s mother on suspicion of exposing a minor to danger.

An incident that initially appeared to be a household accident turned into a police case on the island of Kos, where a 3-year-old child was seriously injured and the child’s mother was arrested.
According to information from Dimokratiki, the child allegedly left the house alone without anyone noticing, walked towards the mother’s parked car and became trapped with his head between the window pane and the metal frame of the door. The pressure exerted was so severe that the child lost consciousness.
The child’s condition was immediately considered serious. Medical services were mobilised and, due to the need for specialised treatment, the child was airlifted to a hospital facility outside the island. No further information about the child’s health condition has been made public. Authorities did not treat the incident solely as an accident.
While investigating how a three-year-old child ended up alone outside the house and inside the vehicle, police proceeded with the arrest of the child’s mother. The 35-year-old woman is facing charges of exposing a minor to danger, an offence that applies to individuals responsible for a child’s care who leave them in circumstances that endanger their life or physical integrity.
