Voula: New allegations emerge against 58-year-old PE teacher as more students speak out

More details are emerging about the alleged misconduct of a 58-year-old secondary school physical education teacher following complaints that he sexually harassed a female student.

The 58-year-old has been charged with multiple counts of violating the sexual dignity of a minor, allegedly committed repeatedly over a period of time. He was also automatically suspended from his duties on the same day.

According to the allegations, the incident occurred around midday on Wednesday (October 14), during a physical education exercise, when the teacher allegedly touched the minor’s thigh.

He was immediately removed from the school, while the Ministry of Education has ordered a formal administrative investigation.

Speaking to ERTnews, the mother of the 13-year-old student described what her daughter had told her:
“He would grab my daughter by the waist and thighs to make her perform the exercise more intensely, use her as an example in front of the entire class, and make her and a classmate give him massages and do his nails so he could relax.

He would also make the girls do push-ups facing the wall while winking at the boys, so he could look at their backsides.”
As part of the police investigation, two additional students were interviewed. Both alleged that the same teacher had touched them in a sexual manner on previous occasions.

The 13-year-old’s mother said she was shocked by her daughter’s account and criticised the school’s administration, alleging that it had turned a blind eye to serious complaints.

“From what we’ve learned, after this incident, people started speaking out, and it turns out this has been going on for years. He had also worked at a high school before coming to our school,” she said.
