The unusual incident occurred at around midday on Monday (2/11), when the officer lost an MP5 submachine gun, a stun grenade and his service radio while riding to his post.
According to available information, the incident took place at approximately 2:10 p.m. as the officer was travelling by motorcycle to a security detail. Instead of carrying the weapon and equipment in accordance with the required safety procedures, he allegedly placed them in a supermarket bag hanging from the motorcycle.
At some point during the journey, the bag opened and the weapon and other equipment fell onto the road.
The stun grenade and service radio were later found. The MP5, however, remains missing, and an operation is under way to locate it.
The officer was arrested, and a case file was opened against him for violations of weapons legislation and breaches of safe-storage rules.
