A 48-year-old woman from France died while swimming in a pool at a hotel in Petalidi, in the Municipality of Messini.
According to tharrosnews.gr, the 48-year-old was found at the bottom of the pool by other swimmers. An EKAB ambulance was called, and paramedics fought to keep her alive.
The woman was taken to Kalamata Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
The 64-year-old hotel manager was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide. The lifeguard, who was at another pool at the time, is being sought by the authorities.
The Messini Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the French woman’s death. She had been visiting Greece with her husband and their two children.
