Family, relatives and friends will say their final goodbye today, Sunday (15/3) at 12:30 at the Church of Agios Vasileios in Sykies to the 20-year-old PAOK supporter who was murdered on the evening of last Thursday in Kalamaria by a 23-year-old perpetrator who fatally stabbed him with a knife.
The causes of the killing have not yet been clarified, although the lawyer for the victim’s family speaks of an “atmosphere of a fan-related incident,” while the prosecutor has also brought criminal charges against the victim’s two friends for the offenses of the aggravated form of dangerous bodily harm and possession of objects that can cause bodily injury under the sports law and acting jointly.
According to voria.gr, the two young men are being sought by the authorities, according to information they fled from the spot where the 20-year-old collapsed on a motorbike. One of them has already been identified. Information indicates that they have expressed their intention to appear voluntarily today at noon at the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, accompanied by lawyers.
The 23-year-old perpetrator was taken yesterday before the prosecutor, who brought criminal charges against him for intentional homicide, illegal possession of a weapon and use of a weapon. He requested and received a deadline to give his statement on Tuesday before the First Investigating Judge, and until then he remains in custody at the General Police Directorate. He is said to claim that the 20-year-old and the other two young men had set up an ambush for him below his house in Kalamaria and beat him, while he stabbed the victim with a knife he had with him, although he had initially claimed that he found it lying on the ground.
The forensic pathologist, Eleni Zangelidou, who was appointed by the victim’s family as a technical consultant and attended yesterday’s autopsy and post-mortem examination, stated that the 20-year-old died from massive blood loss. She added that the fatal wound was caused by a stab with a knife to the front part of the chest, in the precordial area.
“The cause was a rupture of the wall of his heart from a sharp instrument,” she said, clarifying that the young man also received a second blow in the right axillary area. However, as she stressed, the first strike was the one that proved fatal.
At the spot on Argonauton Street in Kalamaria where the 20-year-old PAOK supporter collapsed, his friends as well as passers-by are leaving candles and flowers, scarves and shirts of his favorite team, as well as notes, calling for an end to violence.
