A 2-year-old child was pulled unconscious from a fountain in Kallithea. She was transferred to the Panagiotis and Aglaia Kyriakou General Children’s Hospital of Athens.

A shocking incident occurred on Sunday evening in Kallithea, where a toddler was pulled unconscious from a fountain.

Local residents informed a passing DIAS motorcycle police unit that a little girl had fallen into the fountain. Officers of the Hellenic Police rushed to pull the 2-year-old child out, who was found to be unconscious.

The police officers provided first aid to the child but were unable to revive her and immediately called for a patrol car and an ambulance. The police vehicle arrived first and transported the little girl to the Panagiotis and Aglaia Kyriakou General Children’s Hospital of Athens, where, after efforts lasting approximately 50 minutes, the child regained vital signs.

The 2-year-old child remains in critical condition and is intubated.

The police arrested the 26-year-old father of the girl on charges of exposing a minor to danger.
