The Evros Regional Unit on “Red Code” due to a high risk of flooding and rising water levels in the Evros River.

The Evros Regional Unit was once again placed under “Red Code” mobilisation status as of today, Tuesday (24/02), due to a high risk of flooding in the area, as a result of rising water levels and the overflow of the Evros River.

More specifically, as announced by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection has once again placed the Evros Regional Unit of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace under “Red Code” mobilisation status from today, Tuesday 24/02/2026, through Friday 27/02/2026.

According to the Regional Governor and a relevant opinion issued by the Risk Assessment Committee, a high risk of flooding is forecast in the area due to rising water levels and the overflow of the Evros River.

In this context, as the ministry stresses in its announcement, the Municipality and the Region are called upon to immediately convene the Local Operational Civil Protection Coordination Bodies (T.E.S.O.P.P.) and the Regional Operational Civil Protection Coordination Bodies (P.E.S.O.P.P.).
