Tempi: How metro, railways, tram, and buses will operate

Modifications, work stoppages, and limited routes on public transportation during today’s anniversary of the Tempi tragedy. Here is how Metro, Hellenic Railways, Tram, and buses will operate.

Today, Saturday, February 28, marks the third anniversary of the train tragedy in Tempi, with protest gatherings taking place across the country.
Workers in public transportation are participating in the strikes, and some unions are adjusting their schedules to help facilitate protesters’ movement to the rallies.
Railways – Suburban Railway
No trains will run on the country’s railway network, including the Suburban Railway.
Urban Railways – How Metro, HSAP, and Tram will Operate
Metro Lines 2 and 3 will operate from 9:00 AM and throughout the day, with normal service continuing for the late-night hours on Saturday.
Trains to and from the Airport will operate normally from 9:00 AM and throughout the day.
Due to instructions from the Greek Police, the Metro stations “Syntagma” and “Panepistimio” will be closed from the start of service at 9:00 AM, and trains will pass through without stopping.
HSAP Line 1 (Kifisia – Piraeus)
HSAP Line 1 will operate from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
- The last departures will be:
- From Kifisia and Piraeus at 20:35
- From Monastiraki towards Kifisia at 20:51 and towards Piraeus at 21:09
- From Omonia towards Kifisia at 20:54 and towards Piraeus at 21:07
- From Attiki towards Kifisia at 20:59 and towards Piraeus at 21:02
Tram service will start gradually from 9:30 AM, and the vehicles will begin withdrawing from circulation at 7:00 PM. The late-night service on Saturday will not take place.
Tram Lines 6 & 7 (with connections at Pikrodafni):
The first train will depart from Asclepiio Voulas at 09:29, with the last departure at 19:14. The first train will depart from Akti Poseidonos at 09:56, and the last at 19:41. The last departure from Akti Poseidonos towards the second Agios Kosmas will be at 20:19.
Buses and Trolleybuses
Buses and trolleybuses are expected to operate normally, although individual drivers may strike as part of the 24-hour strike announced by GSEE and the Workers’ Center of Athens. There will also be traffic regulations in the wider central Athens area due to scheduled gatherings.
Ferries
Finally, there is a nationwide strike in ferries decided by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO), with ferry routes remaining suspended from 00:01 to 24:00.
