Golden Dawn Trial: Eleni Zaroulia sent to prison
Η Ελένη Ζαρούλια SOOC / Konstantinos Tsakalidis

Eleni Zaroulia is being sent to prison after her request to convert her sentence into a monetary fine was rejected.

The wife of the former leader of Golden Dawn and former MP, Eleni Zaroulia, will be imprisoned following the court’s rejection of her request to convert her prison sentence into a financial penalty.

Along with her, three more people are also expected to be sent to prison.

The Five-Member Court of Appeal for Felonies accepted the requests to suspend the execution of the sentences of MPs Ch. Alexopoulos and Ant. Arvanitis, as the prosecutor explained that the first is quadriplegic and the second is very elderly. In addition, the court also accepted the requests of Ar. Daskalakis, Ant. Gregos, Ev. Boukouras, D. Koukoutsis, and G. Tsakanikas, suspending their sentences and imposing a three-year ban on leaving the country.

For Nik. Michos, the request to suspend the execution of the sentence was rejected, but the court converted his sentence into a financial penalty, as it also did for M. Evgenikos, Th. Marias, and K. Chatzidakis.

It should be noted that those who have been sentenced to prison terms and have not served their full sentences will return to prison to serve the remainder of their sentences.

Sentences from 4 years to life imprisonment – 13 years for the leadership

The Five-Member Court of Appeal for Felonies imposed sentences ranging from four years to life imprisonment in the trial concerning the criminal organization Golden Dawn.

The court imposed a life sentence on G. Roupakias, the direct perpetrator of the murder of Pavlos Fyssas. It also decided to impose the same prison sentences of 13 years, as in the first trial, on those convicted of directing the criminal organization: Nik.
