Dimitris Markopoulos denies rumors that he lacks a university degree, stating that he is a graduate of the Hellenic Open University and holds a diploma in journalism.

With a post on Facebook, New Democracy parliamentary spokesperson Dimitris Markopoulos seeks to refute rumors that he does not have a university degree.

I hold a degree from the School of Humanities of the Hellenic Open University of the University of Patras, and I am also the holder of a Diploma in Media and Journalism from the Organization for Vocational Education and Training of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs,” he states, calling on those who “spread lies online, poisoning public discourse, to retract them.”

“Following unfounded rumors about the alleged absence of a university degree and an attempt to tarnish my credibility, which began in an organized manner with my appointment as parliamentary spokesperson of New Democracy, I state clearly and unequivocally:

I hold a degree from the School of Humanities of the Hellenic Open University of the University of Patras
I am the holder of a Diploma in Media and Journalism from the Organization for Vocational Education and Training of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs
