Crete: Mystery Surrounding the Disappearance of the 43-Year-Old Mother

The case of the disappearance of Eleftheria from Dafnes, Heraklion, Crete, is shrouded in mystery, with her family’s anxiety growing by the hour. The 43-year-old mother left her home on Sunday morning, shortly after 11 AM, driving her white Honda, which has yet to be located.

However, according to Cretalive.gr, an initial search through security cameras shows the vehicle heading from Dafnes towards Heraklion.

Her phone had been ringing normally until yesterday, but all calls from her family went unanswered. The last recorded communication was a message supposedly sent by Eleftheria to her son, saying she would call him later. This message was sent around 7 PM on Sunday, but it is believed to be a standard message from the mobile service provider sent to the caller.

The 43-year-old had a significant criminal court hearing on Monday for a personal matter as a victim, but she never showed up at the Heraklion Courthouse.

The last known signal from her phone was detected in the area of Christos, on Mount Youchtas, but the cell tower covers a large area, around ten kilometers in radius.

Search efforts for the missing mother are ongoing for a second day. Police forces and members of the 3rd EMAK are combing the area around the last known signal. Authorities are still awaiting updates from the mobile service provider regarding any new information on her phone’s signal. At the same time, security camera footage is being reviewed to track the whereabouts of her car, which is considered a key element in the investigation.

Drones have been deployed in the search for Eleftheria, and Heraklion security officers have conducted targeted searches on at least two individuals. Journalistic sources report that the investigation is primarily focusing on the personal life of the 43-year-old mother.

The Smile of the Child organization has issued a statement regarding her disappearance, noting her physical description: “She is 1.70 meters tall, slim, with brown hair and brown eyes. On the day she disappeared, she was wearing black clothes. She was driving a white Honda HR-V 2001, with license plate YHM 6356.”
