The Ministry of Education has announced the recruitment of teachers and members of the Special Educational and Special Support Staff for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The recruitment of substitute teachers and members of the Special Educational Staff (EEP) and Special Support Staff (EBP) for the 2026-2027 academic year was announced today, Tuesday (01/09).
Specifically, the Ministry of Education announced the recruitment of 23,020 temporary substitute teachers in primary and secondary education, as well as 6,786 members of EEP-EBP.
23,020 substitute teachers
Primary Education
- 11,502 in Special Education.
- 4,121 in General Education.
Secondary Education
- 3,048 in Special Education.
- 4,109 in General Education.
- 200 teachers in the PE79.01 category for Music Schools, teaching musical specialisations.
6,786 EEP-EBP appointments
At the same time, the Ministry announced 6,786 appointments of Special Educational Staff (EEP) and Special Support Staff (EBP) for the same academic year.
35 positions remain unfilled
According to the Ministry of Education, it was not possible to fill the planned 35 positions, 34 of which concerned Special Education appointments requiring certified proficiency in Greek Braille or Greek Sign Language (GSL), due to a lack of eligible candidates.
In addition, 40 temporary substitute teachers in secondary education categories were allocated for recruitment at the Sivitanidios Public School of Arts and Vocations, following a decision by its Board of Directors.
The teachers appointed are required to report and take up their duties from Monday, September 7 through Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Ministry said.
