Cold snap continues through the weekend – Where the weather conditions will persist

The weather will feel like autumn again over the weekend (May 2–3).

According to meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas, forecast data has not changed compared to previous days.
Winds in the Aegean and Ionian Seas will reach 7 to 8 Beaufort, while temperatures will remain low compared to recent days.

As he notes, this is a “northerly flow” pattern, with weather phenomena continuing over the next two days, but conditions are expected to return to seasonal norms from next week.

FORECAST FOR TODAY, SATURDAY

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

In eastern parts of the country, clouds with local rain and, from the afternoon, possible isolated thunderstorms in coastal areas of central Macedonia.

In the rest of the country, generally fair weather with temporarily increased cloud cover and local rain or showers, mainly at midday and in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will occur in the morning hours in the southern Ionian and western Peloponnese.

Local snowfall is expected in the mountainous areas of northern mainland Greece.
Winds will blow from northern directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort, reaching 7 and locally 8 in the Aegean.

Temperatures will drop slightly further and remain at low levels for the season. Highs will reach 13–15°C in the north, 15–16°C in eastern mainland areas, 17–19°C in the rest of the country, and locally 20°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: In western and central Macedonia, temporarily increased cloud cover with local rain and, from the afternoon, possible isolated thunderstorms in coastal areas. In other areas, generally fair weather with clouds increasing from midday and bringing light local rain.
Local snowfall will occur in mountainous areas.
Winds: Northeasterly at 4 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 9 to 15°C. In western Macedonia, 3 to 4 degrees lower.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: In the southern Ionian and Peloponnese, temporarily increased cloud cover with local rain and mainly morning isolated thunderstorms. Elsewhere, generally fair weather with locally increased cloud cover and rain or showers at midday and in the afternoon.
Winds: Easterly at 4 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 9 to 19°C. In inland Epirus, 4 to 5 degrees lower.

THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Increased cloud cover with local rain, mainly until the afternoon.
Winds: Northeasterly at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally 7 in coastal areas and possibly up to 8 in southern parts.
Temperature: From 7 to 16°C.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Cloudy at times with local rain, mainly in Crete.
Winds: Northerly at 5 to 7 Beaufort, locally up to 8.
Temperature: From 11 to 18°C, reaching 20°C in southern Crete.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Weather: Periods of increased cloud cover with local rain.
Winds: Northerly at 4 to 6 Beaufort and 6 to 7 in northern areas.
Temperature: From 14 to 20°C, 2 to 3 degrees lower in the north.

ATTICA

Weather: Temporarily increased cloud cover with a chance of local rain until midday.
Winds: Northerly to northeasterly at 4 to 6 Beaufort, up to 7 in eastern areas.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: Increased cloud cover with rain and, from evening, isolated thunderstorms.

In eastern mainland areas and the Aegean, clouds with local rain and mainly isolated thunderstorms in coastal areas. Weather will improve in mainland areas by evening.
In the rest of the country, generally fair weather with locally increased cloud cover in the southern Ionian and western Peloponnese, and during midday–afternoon inland, with local rain or showers mainly in mountainous areas.
Local snowfall will occur in mountainous areas, mainly in central Greece.
Winds will blow from northern directions: 3 to 5 Beaufort in the west (locally 6), 4 to 6 in the east, and 7 to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean.
Temperatures will drop slightly in the southeastern Aegean. Highs will reach 18–20°C in western areas and the Ionian islands, and 15–17°C elsewhere.

In the Cyclades, Crete, and the Dodecanese, partly cloudy with local rain and gradual improvement. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather. During midday–afternoon inland, temporary cloud development with a chance of local showers in mountainous areas.
Winds will blow: in the west from westerly directions at 3 to 4 Beaufort; in the east northerly at 4 to 5; in the Aegean 5 to 6 and locally 7 to 8 Beaufort in southern areas, gradually weakening.
Temperatures will rise across the country.

Generally clear weather. During midday–afternoon inland, temporary cloud development with a chance of local showers in mountainous areas.
Winds will blow: in the west from westerly directions at 3 to 4 Beaufort; in the east variable at 3 to 4, gradually turning southerly at 4 to 5; in the southeastern Aegean northerly to northwesterly at 4 to 5 and locally 6 Beaufort.
Temperatures will rise further across the country.

Thin cloud cover, becoming denser inland during midday–afternoon.
