Temporary traffic arrangements will be in effect during nighttime hours on Metro Line 2 today, Monday (May 4), due to works for rail replacement and the installation of a 5G network in the Athens Metro.
According to an announcement by STASY, today Monday (May 4), as was also the case yesterday Sunday (May 3), on the section “Attiki – Panepistimio,” the stations Attiki, Larissa Station, Metaxourgeio, Omonia, and Panepistimio on Line 2 will close at 21:40, two and a half hours earlier than the scheduled end of service.
The Omonia and Attiki stations will remain open for Line 1 (ISAP).
Train services on Line 2 during the works will operate between Anthoupoli – Sepolia and Syntagma – Elliniko.
In detail, the last trains before station closures will depart:
- from Sepolia to Elliniko at 21:30,
- from Attiki to Elliniko at 21:32,
- from Larissa Station to Elliniko at 21:33,
- from Metaxourgeio to Elliniko at 21:34,
- from Omonia to Elliniko at 21:36,
- from Panepistimio to Elliniko at 21:38,
- from Syntagma to Anthoupoli at 21:41,
- from Panepistimio to Anthoupoli at 21:43,
- from Omonia to Anthoupoli at 21:44,
- from Metaxourgeio to Anthoupoli at 21:46,
- from Larissa Station to Anthoupoli at 21:47, and
- from Attiki to Anthoupoli at 21:49.
Passengers will be served on the Sepolia – Syntagma section by the temporary bus line X18 “Syntagma Metro Station – Agios Antonios Metro Station,” which will not pass through the Sepolia and Attiki stations. The line will make the following stops:
Direction: Syntagma Metro Station – Agios Antonios Metro Station:
“Syntagma” (existing stop), “Panepistimio” (new temporary stop on Panepistimiou Street between Sina and Korai streets), “Omonia” (existing stop), “Metaxourgeio Station” (existing stop), “Larissa Station” (existing stop), “Kadmos” (existing stop), and “Agios Antonios Station” (existing stop).
Direction: Agios Antonios Metro Station – Syntagma Metro Station:
“Agios Antonios Station” (stop on Ethnarchou Makariou Street), “Kadmos” (existing stop), “Larissa Station towards Syntagma” (temporary stop on Deligiorgi Street), “Peroke” (existing stop), “Omonia” (existing stop), “Klafthmonos Square” (existing stop), and “Syntagma” (existing stop).
