Murder in Crete: What the autopsy of the 21-year-old revealed

Some initial findings from the forensic examination conducted on the 21-year-old man who was murdered in Ammoudara, Crete, by the 54-year-old suspect, are coming to light.

According to the forensic report, all six bullets hit the victim. Five of the wounds were through-and-through, while one was described as a “blind” wound, meaning the bullet remained inside the 21-year-old’s body.

At this stage, it has not been clearly determined which bullet was fatal. However, according to MEGA TV, the forensic examiner may conclude that the deadly bullet entered near the victim’s armpit area.

Four of the shots appear to have been fired from a distance of approximately 2 to 2.5 meters, while the other two were fired from a closer range. Investigators believe these may have been “execution-style shots,” as the suspect allegedly approached and shot the 21-year-old while he was already lying on the ground.

The Deadly Ambush

The incident took place on Tuesday (May 5). According to authorities, and allegedly following encouragement from his 56-year-old wife, the suspect used her car to ram the victim’s vehicle on Andreas Papandreou Street in Ammoudara, Heraklion.

After immobilizing the car, the suspect exited the vehicle and calmly fired six shots at the 21-year-old victim, who reportedly had no time to react.

The suspect emptied his .38 caliber revolver into the victim before returning to the car.

He then drove his wife back home, where she remained.

Afterward, he took his motorcycle and headed to the Malevizi Police Department, where he surrendered to officers, stating that he committed the act because of disputes with the victim.

He also handed over the revolver used in the killing, which contained six spent .38 Special shell casings.

The suspect’s wife was also arrested for psychological complicity, as investigators believe she repeatedly urged her husband to seek revenge for the death of their 17-year-old son. Authorities say she played a decisive role in influencing the suspect, who had reportedly been wavering for some time over whether to carry out the attack.
