New weather deterioration on the way – Kolydas’ forecast

A change in weather conditions is expected from the middle of the week, according to meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas. What the forecast models are showing.

Weather models are forecasting a gradual shift in conditions over the coming days, with intense weather phenomena gradually moving towards the southern parts of the country.
As noted in a post by Theodoros Kolydas, former director of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), the week begins with mild conditions and only scattered local showers. However, a noticeable strengthening of weather phenomena is expected from midweek onwards.
The main focus of the deteriorating weather appears to be Crete, which is now highlighted by almost all forecasting models. While rainfall will remain limited and scattered on Monday and Tuesday, the rain band is expected to intensify from Wednesday, September 30, with Thursday, October 1, forecast to be the most affected day, as rainfall totals could become particularly high.
Despite the agreement among meteorological centres regarding the region expected to be most affected, uncertainty remains over the exact intensity of the phenomena. According to Mr Kolydas, Crete is the area requiring the greatest attention, although the eventual strength of the rainfall will depend on the final convergence of forecast data in the coming days.
