Poseidonos Avenue: The driver who caused the fatal car pile-up was under the influence of alcohol

A five-car pile-up occurred early in the morning on Poseidonos Avenue heading towards Glyfada, in the Alimos area.

The 23-year-old Czech driver of the car that caused the fatal collision shortly before midnight at the intersection of Poseidonos Avenue and Stratigou Sarafi Street in Alimos was arrested. The drivers of the other four vehicles were temporarily stopped at a red light when the 23-year-old came speeding from behind and collided with them, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old Romanian driver of one car and the injury of his 25-year-old Greek passenger.
The crash was so severe that the deceased’s car veered off and hit another vehicle. During an initial breath test, the Czech driver, who was slightly injured, was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.51 mg/l and was arrested on charges of manslaughter by negligence and reckless driving.
