Summer timetable in effect for public transport – How the metro, tram and buses are operating in August

The summer timetable is currently in effect on Athens public transport, with the metro, ISAP, tram, buses and trolleybuses operating at different frequencies throughout August.

The summer schedule provides for less frequent services on several routes, due to reduced passenger traffic, and will remain in effect until early September.

Frequencies on ISAP, metro and tram

STASY has adjusted the frequencies of fixed-track transport services based on summer-season demand.

On Line 1 (ISAP), trains run on weekdays approximately every 7 to 7.5 minutes.

On Metro Line 2, during peak hours from 07:00 to 19:00, trains run every 4.5 minutes. During the rest of the day, frequencies range from 5 to 7 minutes.

On Metro Line 3, trains run approximately every 4.5 minutes during the morning peak period, while later in the day services operate every 5.5 to 8 minutes.

On the tram network, services run approximately every 12 minutes until 22:00.

Increased services to the airport and coastal areas

At the same time, OASA has implemented the first phase of its summer transport plan, which will remain in effect throughout August.

The reduction in services does not apply across the entire network. Instead, routes serving areas with increased summer demand are being reinforced, including Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, the Port of Piraeus and the coastal zone.

The summer timetable will remain in effect until early September, while winter services are expected to resume during the first ten days of the month.

Passengers are advised to take the different service frequencies into account when planning their journeys during August.
