Meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas says temperatures will remain elevated until Holy Thursday in Athens, but a change in the weather pattern is expected afterward, lasting into Easter.

According to his post, up to around Holy Thursday, temperatures at 850 hPa will rise and peak near 9–10°C, which translates to surface temperatures of about 22–23°C.

After that, between April 10 and 12, the average trend drops to around 3–4°C, with several forecasts showing even lower values. This indicates a clear shift toward cooler conditions after Holy Thursday.

Key points from the forecast

Until Holy Thursday: Warm weather, with temperatures around 22–23°C
Good Friday – Holy Saturday: Noticeable drop in temperature (not extreme cold, but significantly cooler than before)
Easter Sunday: Cooler conditions may persist, but with lower certainty

Kolydas estimates:

70–80% probability of a temperature drop after Holy Thursday
50–60% probability that cooler weather continues into Easter Sunday

Rain outlook

The weather is not expected to be strongly unstable, but there are some indications of possible local phenomena:

Holy Saturday: 30–40% chance of instability or local showers
Easter Sunday: 25–35% chance, with higher uncertainty

Overall, the dominant scenario suggests a shift from early warm conditions to cooler and slightly unsettled weather toward the end of Holy Week, though without extreme phenomena.
