Piraeus: 13-year-old student dies at school

A tragedy occurred at a Primary School in Piraeus, where a 13-year-old student lost her life.

The girl died on Friday morning (21/11) at a Primary School in Piraeus.
According to ERT, the incident happened at around 10:00 in the morning during mealtime, when the child likely suffered an obstruction of the respiratory airways.
CPR was performed by the school’s specialized staff and the school nurse, as well as by professionals from the Keratsini Health Center and from a private diagnostic center located near the school. The child was then transported by an EKAV ambulance to the Nikaia General State Hospital, where she passed away shortly afterwards.
Authorities proceeded with the apprehension of the school principal and a teacher.
A police investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death, while the school has been sealed so that the necessary procedures can be carried out by the authorities.
