Why are fighter jets flying over Athens?

Fighter jets and helicopters are flying today, Friday (March 20th), over the Attic sky, surprising many residents of the capital. Some of the aircraft are even flying at low altitudes, with the noise reaching inside people’s homes, causing concern for many, especially given the ongoing war in the Middle East.

However, these flying operations are scheduled test flights as part of the preparation for the military parade on March 25th. The pilots of the Air Force and Army Aviation are conducting reconnaissance passages and timing rehearsals over Syntagma Square and the Panepistimiou Avenue axis, ensuring everything is ready for the celebration of the national holiday.

According to the plan, the test flights will take place from 13:15 to 14:30 today
