Those who submitted applications on Holy Monday have already received the subsidy, while today, Holy Thursday, the platform opens again.

The process of submitting applications for the Fuel Pass continues, with at least 800,000 submissions made so far.

Those who submitted their applications on Holy Monday have already received the fuel subsidy, while today, Holy Thursday, the platform is open to beneficiaries with AFM numbers ending in 8, 9, and 0.

Starting from Good Friday, April 10, the Fuel Pass platform will open to all citizens and will remain available until the end of the month.

The credit is processed within 48 hours from the approval of the application.

Any natural person, including self-employed individuals who are tax residents of Greece, can apply for the Fuel Pass. The condition is that the family income declared for 2024 should be up to €25,000 for singles and up to €35,000 for married individuals or those with a civil partnership. The amount increases by €5,000 for each dependent child in the household. Specifically, for single-parent families, the declared income limit is €39,000, with an increase of €5,000 for each dependent member.

Regarding the subsidy amounts, they range from €25 to €60 for the April-May period, depending on the type of vehicle, the residential area, and the payment method.

Fuel Pass: Platform Issues

At the same time, there are issues with the operation of the platform, primarily related to the identification of citizens’ personal details, which have led many to visit the Citizens’ Service Centers (KEP) to resolve the problem.

Identification via the National Communication Registry (EMEp) is a necessary requirement for receiving the subsidy. This system, activated by the Ministry of Digital Governance, aims to cross-check the beneficiaries’ details and limit the occurrence of illegal subsidy claims that were recorded in the past.

However, there are significant difficulties in practice, as in many cases, the necessary confirmation code is not sent to users. The identification process “stalls,” and the platform directs citizens to the KEP for physical verification of their details. This development has led to increased foot traffic at KEPs across the country, with thousands of citizens attempting to resolve the issue on-site to avoid further delays in submitting their applications.

Technical malfunctions were recorded from the very first day of the platform’s operation, when the system crashed due to increased traffic. Despite efforts to relieve the congestion with the activation of a new model for submitting applications based on the expiring Tax Identification Number of the beneficiaries, the situation remains problematic, with users continuing to face obstacles in completing the process.
