The tragic outcome of the disappearance of the 43-year-old woman from Dafnes, Heraklion, was discovered when her body was found in a field. As it turns out, her 39-year-old ex-partner met her on the fateful day and subsequently drove the car in which she was found dead.

New details are emerging following the discovery of the body of the 43-year-old, who had been missing since Sunday, April 19, in Heraklion, Crete.

According to information, the woman was found dead from a gunshot wound inside her car, on the back seats, just a short distance from the Agia Barbara area.

No weapon was found at the scene, and police are reportedly ruling out the possibility of suicide.

The car was found in a relatively inaccessible area, and the area has been cordoned off for evidence collection by the police.

The village of Agia Barbara is the hometown of the 39-year-old ex-partner of the woman, who had been the focus of investigations in recent hours.

It is noted that this area had not been part of the search zone in previous days.

The Meeting Between the 39-Year-Old and the 43-Year-Old

According to information, on Sunday morning, the 39-year-old arrived near the chapel of Agios Panteleimonas in Dafnes, Heraklion, where he met with the 43-year-old.

Security cameras captured him an hour later walking on the provincial road from Heraklion to Moires. From there, he called a taxi, which he boarded, and went to their home in Malades.

Subsequently, he drove back to the chapel of Agios Panteleimonas and left with the 43-year-old’s car, traveling on the provincial road from Heraklion to Moires, heading towards Agia Barbara, the area where the 43-year-old was found dead.

From the investigations and video footage, it was determined that the 39-year-old left the 43-year-old’s car near Agia Barbara. At 13:13, he was recorded by a camera calling a taxi, which he boarded and returned to the chapel of Agios Panteleimonas in Dafnes, Heraklion, where he had met the 43-year-old.

The Dead Ex-Partner

This tragic development in the case of the disappearance of the 43-year-old mother of three, Eleftheria Giakoumakis, came after the suicide of her 39-year-old ex-partner.

Authorities in Heraklion, Crete, were convinced from the beginning that the suicide was not random and that he might have been the only one who knew her whereabouts. However, he left no note, which could have provided answers for the woman’s family, who were anxiously waiting.

The ex-partner of the missing woman had been summoned to testify, was released after a lengthy interrogation, and yesterday (April 21) was found dead. In the meantime, he had been summoned again to appear at the Heraklion Police Department for a new supplemental testimony, as there were many gaps in his initial statement, and unanswered questions arose.

Regarding some scratches on his face, he had claimed they were caused by a recent motorcycle accident.

Yesterday afternoon, he was found dead near a church outside his village, Prophet Elias, and, as it appears, he had shot himself with a shotgun.

According to relatives, the 43-year-old and the 39-year-old had a rather intense breakup about two months ago, but since then, the woman had not received any disturbances from him, and he appeared to have moved on with his life. Authorities are now waiting for a ruling to lift his phone’s privacy, hoping that it may hold answers to the woman’s fate.

The Timeline of the 43-Year-Old’s Disappearance

The 43-year-old, a mother of three, disappeared on Sunday when she left her house in Dafnes, leaving a note that read “I am leaving and will return shortly,” but never made contact afterward.

Her son reported her disappearance to the authorities on Sunday night, telling police that, in the middle of the day, he had received a message from her phone saying she would contact him later in the evening.

The last signal from her mobile phone was emitted from a tower on Mount Youchtas, which covers a large area of approximately 10 kilometers.

This investigation continues to unfold as new details emerge.
