Actor Alberto Eskenazy has died at the age of 73, after battling cancer for more than two years.
According to information from NEWS 24/7, the well-known actor was admitted on Friday to the oncology hospital “Agioi Anargyroi,” where he passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Monday.
Who was Alberto Eskenazy
He was born in Thessaloniki to a family of Jewish origin, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. He later studied acting at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece (graduated in 1976).
Eskenazy starred in many television series, particularly during the 1980s, and also appeared in theatrical productions (including at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus), as well as in feature films and video films. The most characteristic of these was the 1988 video film titled The Road to Glory – The Star. From a very young age, he collaborated professionally with Kostas Kazakos and Jenny Karezi.
Among his many performances, his appearances in the dramatic television series The Notary, an adaptation of the work of the same name by Alexandros Rizos Rangavis (with Vasilis Diamantopoulos in the leading role), and in To Fos tou Avgerinou, where he co-starred with Koralia Karanti, stand out. He also provided his voice for dubbed animated productions.
From his marriage, he had one son, Leon (born in 1983), and one daughter, Sara (born in 1987). For ten years, from 2001 to 2011, he created and ran his own theatre venue as well as an acting school.
