New Emergency Weather Bulletin: Where It Will Rain on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

The Hellenic Meteorological Service (EMY) has updated its Emergency Weather Bulletin. Here’s how the weather will develop on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Emergency Weather Bulletin No. 23 issued on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, is updated based on the latest forecast data. It is emphasized that there are no significant changes in the forecast.

Forecasted heavy rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in the western part of the country, parts of central and northern mainland Greece, and from the evening in the northern and eastern Aegean islands.

The heavy weather phenomena will subside in the western regions overnight from Wednesday, December 24, to Thursday, December 25, and in the other regions by the afternoon of Christmas Day.

More specifically, heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted as follows:

In the Ionian Sea on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, (Christmas Eve) until late at night.
In Epirus, western Thessaly (the regional units of Karditsa and Trikala), western and central Sterea (the regional units of Aetolia-Acarnania, Evrytania, and Phocis), and western Peloponnese until the early hours of Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25, 2025).
In Western Macedonia briefly during the night of Christmas Eve.
In Central Macedonia from early afternoon on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, until Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25, 2025) noon.
In Eastern Macedonia and the northeastern Aegean islands from Wednesday evening, December 24, 2025, until Christmas afternoon (Thursday, December 25, 2025).
