The brutality of the crime in Nea Peramos is shocking, with the perpetrators keeping their victim alive because they perhaps wanted something from him.

The brutality of the crime in Nea Peramos is shocking, as the perpetrators kept the 27-year-old Cretan businessman from Elefsina alive for a week before executing him, as revealed in the coroner’s report. The perpetrators likely kept the victim alive somewhere, as they possibly wanted something from him. However, until his body was found, no ransom demands or any other requests were made.

The coroner placed the time of death on Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and the body was found at 3 PM on Sunday, February 1st, while the abduction took place early Monday, January 26th. They had even given him food before deciding to execute him, which was found in his stomach. The injuries on his body and hands were a result of the perpetrators’ attempts to burn him.

According to the autopsy, he was executed with 10 gunshots, fired from behind. He had 9 gunshots to his back and one to the occipital bone at the back of his head.

The victim had also been beaten, likely inside the car to immobilize him, as he had pre-mortem bruising on his lips and forehead. Immediately after the execution, the perpetrators set the body on fire, possibly to destroy any evidence of their identity, though the body was not fully incinerated. The method of this crime and its outcome resemble a mafia-style execution, but it also shows a certain level of malice toward the victim.

The investigations by the Homicide Department of the Organized Crime Unit are ongoing to uncover the details of the abduction and murder of the 27-year-old businessman from Elefsina, whose body was found by a passerby yesterday in a desolate area and a stream on Mount Kandili, near the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, in Nea Peramos. A tattoo on the victim’s body led to the conclusion that it was the 27-year-old, though official identification is still pending.

Chronology of the Crime

Regarding the timeline of the case, exactly one week ago, around 2 AM on Sunday to Monday, the 27-year-old, who had been out, returned to his house in Elefsina. As he had forgotten his keys, he rang the doorbell for his girlfriend to let him in.

Although she let him in, she noticed that he was taking too long to come upstairs. She went downstairs without seeing him and initially assumed he had left again. The next morning, after checking images from neighbor’s cameras, she became worried and filed a missing person report at the Elefsina Security Department.

The police, after reviewing footage from neighboring houses and a café, discovered that at least two unknown men, under the threat of firearms, restrained him and forced him into a car. It is suspected that there was at least one more accomplice acting as the driver, and possibly a fourth person.

It was found that the car’s license plates were fake, duplicated from real plates and a vehicle from the Thessaloniki area.

Yesterday, by pure chance, a passerby found the body of the young man at this particular desolate location. The 27-year-old’s girlfriend told the police that she did not know of any reasons why something like this would happen to her partner. He had financial stability, as did his family, and he owned a staffing management company. Interestingly, a well-known businessman from the area, who was murdered in Mandra exactly two years ago, was also involved in a similar situation. The perpetrators had shot him inside his car and also set fire to both him and his car to destroy the evidence.

The 27-year-old is believed to have had a professional relationship with the murdered businessman, and so the police are investigating any possible connections, without necessarily limiting their investigation to this, but also looking into the victim’s contacts and financial activities.”
