Neos Kosmos: Body found in apartment where fire broke out

During an operation to extinguish a fire in an apartment in Neos Kosmos, Fire Service crews discovered the body of a person whose identity remains unknown at this stage.

The fire that broke out at midday on Monday (31/08) in a fifth-floor apartment on Ekataiou Street in Neos Kosmos had a tragic outcome.
During the firefighting operation, although initial reports indicated that no one was trapped inside the building, firefighters found the body of a person inside the apartment, whose identity has not yet been established.
The Fire Service operation remains in full progress, with the blaze contained to the fifth-floor apartment without spreading to other apartments in the building.
A total of 12 firefighters with four vehicles and a special ladder truck are operating at the scene, while Hellenic Police officers are also assisting with traffic control and securing the area. The competent Fire Investigation Department will conduct an inquiry into the cause of the blaze.
