Criminal prosecution for intentional homicide in a calm mental state has been brought against the 28-year-old hitman of the 25-year-old in Exarchia.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Athens First Instance has initiated criminal prosecution against the 28-year-old Turkish national, who was arrested yesterday for the murder of the 25-year-old in Exarchia.

More specifically, the accused has been charged with:

  • intentional homicide in a calm mental state
  • aggravated unlawful possession of weapons
  • procurement and possession of narcotics for personal use
  • violation of the immigration law

The defendant has been referred to an investigating judge in order to provide testimony.

The 28-year-old hitman was “recruited” by the “Daltonlar”

The 28-year-old killer of the 25-year-old in Exarchia was arrested yesterday and, during questioning, admitted that he was “recruited” in Turkey by members of a criminal organization allegedly known as the “Daltonlar,” whose leading figures reportedly come from the notorious “Daltons.”

He was assigned to come to Greece and carry out the killing of the victim in exchange for a contract killing worth 1 million Turkish lira, or approximately 18,000 euros.

An earlier attempt to enter Greece illegally had failed, during which he was arrested by Turkish authorities. On his second attempt, via the Evros border, he managed to cross into Greece. From there, he traveled to Thessaloniki, and a collaborator of the organization then transported him to Athens, where he was provided with a photo of the victim, a weapon, and information about his movements and habits. He was also provided with two short-term rental apartments in Exarchia and Kallithea.

Immediately after the execution, the 28-year-old hid in the Exarchia apartment, located very close to the scene of the murder. There, he changed clothes, abandoned his operational clothing and the weapon, then took a taxi and moved to the second apartment in Kallithea.

In total, until his arrest, he had changed six short-term rental apartments, using a stolen Swedish passport and a stolen credit card from Singapore, attempting to find a way to return to Turkey without being arrested, which he ultimately failed to do.

The 25-year-old victim had entered Greece in November 2024 and had applied for asylum. Until his murder, he had not been involved in any serious offenses in Greece, having only been briefly detained twice for routine checks in Volos and Athens. In the Volos case, he had been detained for intoxication, along with a Georgian man who was his roommate in the Exarchia apartment.

However, in Turkey, the 25-year-old had a serious criminal record, involving cases of theft, drugs, threats, and bodily harm, having been in contact with Turkish authorities a total of 20 times.

According to the preliminary findings of the investigation, everything indicates that he was involved in organized crime in Turkey, which appears to have made him a target of the “Daltonlar” criminal organization, known for recruiting young people, including minors, as hitmen for contract killings.
