Larissa: What the forensic examination revealed about the sudden death of the 15-year-old

The forensic findings concerning the sudden death of the 15-year-old in Karitsa, Larissa, have been made public.

According to information from onlarissa.gr, the examination showed that the boy had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

This is the first significant finding that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the boy’s sudden collapse on Sunday evening, despite there being no known history of health problems.

According to the same reports, however, the investigation does not end with this finding. Laboratory tests are still pending and will be assessed alongside the forensic findings in order to establish a more reliable picture of the exact cause of death.

Medical sources had earlier told onlarissa.gr that the 15-year-old was a well-developed child with no known medical history. When the ambulance crew arrived, his heart rhythm was non-shockable, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thickened and, in some cases, can be associated with serious arrhythmias or sudden cardiac events. However, in this particular case, the final forensic assessment will only be reached once all laboratory tests have been completed.

Ambulance arrived after 45 minutes

According to information cited by ERT, the boy was found in the bathroom of his home by family members, who immediately called the emergency services.

The call was made at 9:05 p.m., and the mobile medical unit arrived at 10:50 p.m.

Unfortunately, the 15-year-old had already lost his pulse, and his transfer to Larissa General Hospital did not prevent the fatal outcome, as his death was confirmed there.

Despite concerns raised about the delay in the ambulance’s arrival, the Regional Health Authority said the mobile medical unit responded immediately, arguing that the 45 minutes it took to reach the village was consistent with the geographical conditions of the area.
