News of the death of Dimitris Kokotas, who passed away at the age of 57 following a prolonged hospitalisation, has caused widespread sadness. He leaves behind a musical career and a catalogue of much-loved songs.

Well-known singer Dimitris Kokotas, son of the great and also late Stamatis Kokotas, has died at the age of 57. The singer passed away at Georgios Gennimatas Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment since March 2024, following the serious health ordeal that had shocked the entertainment world and the public.

Dimitris Kokotas’ life changed dramatically on March 28, 2024, when he suddenly felt unwell and collapsed during rehearsals for the television show “J2US.” As the hospital announced at the time, he had suffered cardiac arrest. Resuscitation efforts were carried out, he was intubated and urgently transferred to the Haemodynamic Unit at Gennimatas Hospital.

He had previously suffered a serious cardiac episode, while his condition was considered extremely critical from the outset.

From that day onwards, he remained in hospital, fighting a long battle that lasted nearly two and a half years. His family remained constantly by his side, while there was intense public interest throughout this period in the progress of his health. Despite doctors’ efforts and his prolonged hospitalisation, Dimitris Kokotas ultimately failed to overcome the serious consequences of the health crisis that began in March 2024.
