New information sheds light on the serious incident that occurred on Sunday morning in Glyfada, where an 80-year-old man was found dead in the trunk of a car outside the house where he lived with his son.

Many questions arise regarding the handling of the 46-year-old man by the relevant police and psychiatric authorities. He murdered his 80-year-old father on Sunday morning (25/1) in Glyfada, after having killed his mother 12 years earlier.

A neighbor called the police, who soon arrived at the scene and found the perpetrator as well as the body of the 80-year-old inside the car’s trunk. The knife used by the 46-year-old was also found at the scene.

The son had previously killed his 59-year-old mother in 2014, for which he was sentenced to 16 years in prison and released in 2018 under restrictive conditions requiring him to report regularly to his local police station. He had been complying with these requirements until just a few days before committing the new murder.

Specifically, at the end of March 2014, the perpetrator inflicted multiple stab wounds on his mother, resulting in her death at home.

Afterward, he went to the Glyfada police station and informed officers that he wanted to surrender. Following an investigation, authorities discovered the 59-year-old woman’s body lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom.

The police arrested the then-34-year-old man.

What raises further questions is why the man did not receive the necessary care from the competent psychiatric authorities.
