“Violanta”: What the company claims about safety protocols

Late on Monday night (January 26), the Violanta biscuit factory issued a third statement announcing measures to support the families of the victims, in addition to the legal compensations they will receive, while many questions remain unanswered regarding the deadly fire that killed five workers, and the local community is in shock.

The measures include, among other things, monthly support for the children of the victims, as well as the continuation of salary payments to the families of the deceased workers.

Additionally, the company, in deep sorrow, states in response to what has been said and recorded in the public domain that it “strictly adheres to protocols and procedures, ensuring all safety measures for the staff and facilities. The fire service, as well as the relevant authorities, continue to operate at our facilities.”

Violanta mourns.

Five families are grieving their loved ones. We mourn five of our own people. People from the Violanta family. Mothers, workers, lives that were abruptly cut short. At this moment, the priority is to respect the memory of those who were lost and to care for those directly and indirectly affected by this tragedy. We stand by them with discretion and tangible support.

With the utmost respect for the families of the people we lost, the company’s management is immediately taking specific support actions, beyond the compensation that will be paid to the legal beneficiaries:

Ongoing monthly financial support to the families, equivalent to the salary the workers were receiving, until they would have met the requirements for retirement.
Monthly financial support for the minor children of the affected families to support their living expenses until they reach adulthood.
Immediate payment of an amount equal to six (6) monthly salaries, to cover the immediate expenses of the families.
At the same time, the company is activating a psychological support hotline, with the assistance of specialized psychologists and child psychologists, both for the affected families and for all employees of the company who are experiencing the consequences of this tragedy. The company will provide all necessary psychological support services.

In this moment of deep grief, it is important to note that our company strictly applies protocols and procedures, ensuring all safety measures for the personnel and the facilities. The fire service, as well as the relevant authorities, continue to operate at our facilities. We thank them sincerely for their extraordinary efforts and fully cooperate with them to quickly determine the causes of the tragedy.
