Initially, they were taken to the Emergency Department of Papageorgiou Hospital, where the necessary examinations were carried out. According to information, one of the two injured is a polytrauma patient and is expected to require hospitalization for several days, while the second is in better condition and may not need to be hospitalized. In statements to journalists, the Deputy Governor of the 3rd Health District, Michalis Koupkas, said:
“The administration of the 3rd Health District and Papageorgiou Hospital first and foremost express our deep sorrow and grief to the families of the young people who were lost so prematurely and unjustly. The hospital is on full alert, with all the necessary medical specialties, in order to provide the best possible care and support to the injured, to whom we wish a good and speedy recovery.”
When asked about the possibility of psychological support, Mr. Koupkas replied that the matter will be assessed by the attending physicians.
As for the third injured person, the attending doctors at the hospital in Timișoara decided, following a new assessment, that immediate surgical intervention is required and, for safety reasons, his air transfer could not take place today. EKAV remains on standby so that his air transfer can be carried out as soon as it becomes medically feasible.
