The fire that broke out on Sunday evening at the former Badminton Theatre building in the Goudi Metropolitan Park has been brought under partial control.
The blaze started shortly after 8:00 p.m. and burned materials and waste inside the building, while part of the roof collapsed during the fire.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze did not spread to the surrounding outdoor areas. However, it caused extensive damage to the interior of the building.
No one was reported trapped or injured.
A total of 38 firefighters were deployed, along with 10 fire engines, two aerial platform vehicles, one breathing apparatus support vehicle and six auxiliary vehicles.
Volunteers also assisted in the operation, as did water tankers from the municipalities of Athens, Zografou and Papagou-Cholargos.
Due to the dense smoke, a warning message was sent through the 112 emergency service to residents and people in the wider area, advising them to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed.
