A closed-door meeting for briefing and presenting proposals to improve the traffic issue in Attica, with a focus on Kifisos, took place today, Wednesday (28/02), led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The proposals were categorized into three levels: immediate, medium-term, and long-term.
Among other things, the proposals include:
Immediate measures: Reducing truck traffic on Kifisos (not a complete ban) and better management of daily incidents that cause delays.
Medium-term measures: The implementation of smart traffic lights, which have proven effective in Thessaloniki, will also be considered for Attica. Additionally, by the end of 2026, a significant improvement is expected in the frequency of public transportation routes in Attica.
Long-term measures: New bypass road corridors, completion of Metro Line 4, and the creation of bicycle lanes.
The proposals presented today will be further processed by the relevant ministries, to be finalized and presented soon.
