New details have emerged in the case of a 40-year-old woman arrested in Peristeri on suspicion of adding atropine to her ex-husband’s food, following revelations by the private investigator who helped uncover the alleged acts.
Speaking to ERTnews, private investigator Lefteris Pelekasis described how the man’s suspicions led to the installation of hidden cameras in his home, which subsequently recorded the 40-year-old woman’s movements.
According to Pelekasis, the woman was arrested as she was leaving her ex-husband’s residence, after a camera had allegedly captured her adding a substance to his food.
The Camera Hidden in a Clock and the Ex-Husband’s Suspicions
The man, who is a doctor, had begun to suspect that someone was adding substances to his food and water after experiencing unexplained symptoms at various times.
His suspicions grew stronger when he reviewed surveillance footage from a restaurant in which, according to the private investigator, his ex-wife appeared to be adding an unidentified substance to his water.
He subsequently contacted Lefteris Pelekasis and asked him to install cameras inside his home.
One camera was placed at the entrance to the residence to establish who was entering the property and how they gained access.
A second camera was concealed inside a wall clock in the kitchen, facing the refrigerator and the countertop where food and water were kept.
Footage from this camera reportedly captured the 40-year-old woman carrying out the alleged act.
Dimoglidou: The Man Had Restrained the Woman Before Police Arrived
Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou also addressed the circumstances surrounding the arrest, explaining how the authorities were alerted.
“Essentially, after the act captured on the video footage, we were informed by the victim that someone was inside his home at that very moment carrying out an illegal act,” she said.
She explained that when officers arrived at the scene, the man had already restrained his ex-wife.
“When the police arrived at the scene, the victim had already restrained the woman, who was subsequently arrested,” she noted.
Dimoglidou added that officers from the DIAS motorcycle patrol unit removed the memory card containing the footage from the camera.
The footage has been included in the case file submitted to the prosecutor’s office, which, according to the police spokesperson, has been fully informed of how the material came into police possession.
According to the information presented, while the 40-year-old woman was inside her ex-husband’s home, her parents and her child were waiting in a car parked outside the residence.
Both parents were arrested on charges of complicity in attempted dangerous bodily harm.
Vials containing substances were found in their possession and confiscated. The results of chemical analyses to identify the substances are still pending.
In addition, the woman’s father faces charges of attempting to obstruct justice, as he allegedly tried to prevent the substances from being discovered.
Konstantia Dimoglidou clarified that, according to the police investigation, the parents are suspected of having been involved in the specific incident that took place on the day of the arrest.
Regarding allegations of possible earlier acts against the man, the Hellenic Police spokesperson stressed that these would be subject to further judicial investigation.
