The 44-year-old driver accused in the fatal traffic accident that claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter has been released under restrictive conditions.

The 44-year-old driver from Rhodes was released a short while ago under strict terms (prohibition from leaving the country, mandatory appearance once a month at the Rhodes Police Station, a €50,000 bail, and a ban on operating any type of vehicle).

Last Sunday, May 17, his vehicle collided at high speed with another car on the Rhodes – Lindos national road, causing the deaths of a 57-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter, who were passengers in the second vehicle.

According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), the head of the Rhodes Prosecutor’s Office for Misdemeanors had filed felony charges against him for dangerous driving resulting in the death of two people. He was referred to an investigating magistrate, before whom he appeared and gave his testimony today, accompanied by his lawyers.

Meanwhile, at 11:00 this morning, the funeral of the mother and daughter who lost their lives in the tragic accident was held in the city of Rhodes amid an atmosphere of deep sorrow. Relatives, friends, and dozens of local residents were in attendance to accompany them to their final resting place.
