Tragedy in Kallithea: Seven-day-old infant dies

A seven-day-old infant was transported unconscious to the hospital on Wednesday morning.

A tragedy occurred on Wednesday morning (January 28) when an infant was brought unconscious to the “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital in Athens.

Specifically, according to the president of Pan Hellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers, Michalis Giannakos, the seven-day-old girl was transported at 7:30 AM without a pulse, and despite the doctors’ efforts, the infant could not be saved.

So far, the cause of the infant’s death has not been determined. However, according to reports, the baby did not have the flu or any other seasonal illness, as the necessary tests were conducted in accordance with protocol.

According to the police, the infant’s father and aunt found her unconscious and at 7:10 AM, they took her to a veterinary clinic on Syngrou Avenue. From there, she was picked up by an ambulance and transported to the “Agia Sofia” Children’s Hospital, where she passed away.
